Assessing foot motion during dynamic conditions is essential to understanding the effect of shoes, prescription orthotics and exercise interventions on the lower limb. The NQ Foot and Ankle Centre has installed the latest video and computer equipment to assist with identifying any abnormal motion of the lower limb during walking and running. This information is extremely valuable and enables our Podiatrists to make an accurate diagnosis before recommending a specific treatment plan.

Our practice also uses the TOG Gaitscan System. This is a highly sensitive pressure mat designed to provide information about the way you stand, walk and run. Thousands of tiny sensors in the mat determine the areas on the feet over which you put most pressure. This information is very useful when determining the cause of skin lesions on the feet, including corns, callous, ulcers and blisters. It can also tell the Podiatrist a great deal about the way the feet are functioning during gait, and whether redistributing the pressure load using foot orthoses would be beneficial.

Gaitscan

As a patient strides cross the GaitScan pressure plate, 4096 tiny sensors scan the plantar (underside) surface of the foot. The GaitScan records timing sequences during gait and captures the relative pressure load of each area of the foot.
